in excellent condition, gilded bronze, bright gold color measures" 11" wide by 10" tall and 5 1/2" deep Mathurin Moreau, Cupid and Venus 2nd half of the 19th century, signed Venus with winged Cupid on an half oval base Artist's info: French sculptor (1822 Dijon to 1912 Paris), son of the sculptor Jean-Baptiste Louis Josephe Moreau, first studied with his father, then with Jules Ramey and Augustin-Alexandre Dumont, created monuments, numerous sculptures for churches and representative buildings, among others the Paris Opera, works are exhibited in museums in Dijon and Marseille as well as in the Museum of Military History in Vienna.
